Election Crimes at the Federal Level: What to Know

Image
For decades, the FBI has served as the primary agency responsible for investigating allegations of federal election crimes, including campaign finance violations, ballot/voter fraud, and civil rights violations. With the approaching midterm election, the FBI Springfield Field Office is providing information to voters regarding federal election crimes and how to avoid them and encouraging voters to report suspected violations to FBI Springfield. “While individual states have primary responsibility for conducting fair and free elections, the FBI plays an important role in protecting federal interests,” said FBI Springfield Field Office Special Agent in Charge David Nanz. “Our teams of investigators, including election crimes coordinators in each of our 56 field offices, remain vigilant in detecting those trying to undermine our political process and we will aggressively investigate any allegations of voter fraud or other election crimes. Our focus is on protecting elections from potent...

Don't be Instruments of Politicians-Oyo ACOMORAN Chairman to members

Image
Members of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Riders And Owners Association(ACOMORAN) in Oyo state have been warned not to allow themselves to be used as instruments by politicians as the 2023 elections draw closer. This warning was issued by the association's chairman, Dr. Solomon Oulgbode in a chat with Federationews2day in Ibadan, Nigeria. '' I implore all ACOMORAN members to be law abiding and orderly, they know where they are coming from. They must also ensure that they are not used as instruments by politicians but support the Oyo state Governor because that is what my members say and want. Since Oyo state has accommodated us, why won't we support the state Governor? We don't have factions in our association in Oyo state. Those parading themselves as executives of the association are impostors. We must support the state Governor because he did not push us into the labor market.

Contributory Pensions- Future with PFAs Bleak-Public and Civil Servants

Image
Workers in the University College Hospital(UCH), Ibadan, Nigeria, and other Federal Government institutions have expressed reservations over the attitude of Pensions Funds Administrators(PFAs). The workers, whose names were withheld, to avoid victimization stated, '' The Pensions Funds Administrators have not lived up to expectations. In the first few months of their operations, all went well, but afterward, it has been one complaint or the other. The future is bleak with the PFAs.'' Interestingly, in his reaction, the chairman of the Non-Academic Staff Union(NASU), University Colege Hospital(UCH), Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria, Comrade Kehinde Abiona disclosed that his union paid for data recapture for its members by the Pension Commission(PenCom). ''We wrote to the PenCom and they wanted details of our members, and for the purpose it licensed agents. We paid these agents for data recapture, it was for just two days. PFAs did not do this. They are not forthcom...

Resist Evil and Abnormalities-Pastor Ajayi to Nigerians

Image
Nigerians have been called upon to resist all the evil and abnormalities that have characterized daily living by putting their hopes in God. This call was made by a Christian cleric, Pastor Opeyemi Ajayi. ''Nigerians must be upright by resisting all the evil and abnormalities in everyday living. Don't join the abnormalities. Evil is increasing by the day, but we should not lose hope. No matter how the evil planters press on with evil and diabolism, there shall soon be a total cleansing. Nigerians should not despair,'' Pastor Ajayi stated.

Uncertainty and Nigeria in 2023

Image
The Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) is set to change the design of the 200, 500, and 1,00 Naira notes, months before the 2023 general elections. Interestingly, those who call the shots insist that the change is long overdue, although the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed argues that the government of the day was not carried along. The question now is, Why did it take so long for this change since 2015? So far, the CBN has destroyed 6 Trillion Naira-bank notes- this dispensation. Indeed, a lot is wrong about national security, the economy, and socio-political space; while abnormalities persist. The suggestion is that the government of the day is pushing forward face-saving strategies to becloud the sensibilities of worried Nigerians who are conscious of the nightmarish journey presently. Of worry, is the uncertainty that trails the statement of Those-in-Charge, with particular reference to the transition of the government of the day in 2023, although the action and inaction of the po...

Depend on God

Image
For you to be effective in any endeavor, depend on God for strength, wisdom and power. 1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. 7If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. 8Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

Naira Redesign-Government ought to Safeguard Nigerians-Prof. Olagoke

Image
Mixed feelings have continued to trail the announcement by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) Mr. Godwin Emefiele that the 200, 500 and 1, 000 Naira notes would be redesigned. A sizable number of Nigerians believe that the action of the apex bank has a hidden motive, considering the fact that the head was once a presidential aspirant of the ruling party. Others however argue that the action would sanitize the monetary system in the country. In this piece, Prof. Olagoke warns of the consequences. Excerpt : To start with, the reasons given by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria for the redesigning of the 200, 500, and 1,000 Naira notes must be assessed and evaluated based on present realities. The word redesign becomes an issue because it would involve changes that may not likely go down well with our ethnic, tribal, and religious persuasions. Since it had the approval of the presidency various considerations must have been put in place to allay the fears o...
