Domesticate Retirement for Teachers-Oyo NUT Chairman to State Government

The Nigeria Union of Teachers(NUT) Oyo state Wing has appealed to the state government to speedily domesticate the elongation of Service for TEACHERS as approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria. This appeal was made on Wednesday by the NUT chairman, Comrade Raji Oladimeji Ismail at the celebration of World Teachers day with the Theme '' The Transformation of Education Begins with Teachers'' in Ibadan, Oyo state. ''Teachers are indispensable and their impact on nation building is a reflection of the great strides globally. State governments should do the needful to domesticate the 40/65 years elongation of service and years of retirement age.'' The Dirty Environment

Most state governments in Nigeria have over the years failed to ensure that the environment is habitable. Even though the state governments introduced task forces to enforce environmental regulations and expended large sums of money on sanitation, the environment in most states still remains dirty. Interestingly, waste Management Boards in the states have done little or nothing to improve the worrisome situation. However, the boards have been up beat in seemingly generating revenue for the government, despite the poor state of the environment. Of worry, is the recycling of quack ideas, which has resulted in the conversion of the multi-billion Naira Ogunpa River Channelization scheme in Ibadan, Oyo state to a major refuse dump.
