Over 10 years after the privatization of the electricity sector in Nigeria, millions of Nigerians still remain without meters and regular electricity supply.

Indeed, the set objectives of the privatization are yet to be achieved, while the number of defects in the regulatory policy have been brought to the fore.

Infrastructural development in the sector remains a major issue, just as distribution and generation companies struggle to impress electricity consumers.

The situation remains the same as a result of the unknown interest of government officials.

NASU UCH Elects New Executives March 15

Members of the Non-Academic Staff and Associated Institutions Union(NASU) Ibadan, Nigria will, on Wednesday 15 March, 2023 elect new executives to steer the affairs of the union for the next four years. The incumbent executives referred to as the United Transformation team, led by Comrde Kehind Abiona are seeking re-election. The present branch secretary is Comrader Oluwaseun Asogbon while Comrade Omolara Ajenifuja is the Treasurer. For the Progressive team, Comrade Adekunle Adegboye is the candidate for the chairmanship position, Comrade Olapeju Falow for Secretary and Olabisi Akpuko for Treasurer. In his remarks, the incumbent chairman, Comrade Kehinde Abiona stated that the present NASU executive has performed creditably well, saying, '' we made a four point agenda and we were able to fulfill our promises within the first six months of our administration and we have done more. Reforming the Economy

It is to the knowledge of millions of Nigerians that the basic social-economic institutions have been destroyed. The challenge now is how to fix the nation's health, education, judiciary and other institutions or ensure a satisfactory turn around. In developed countries, economic activities are the backbone of politics and, as such, distortions or reversal of economic policies or long-term strategic national objectives are rare. Sadly, little or nothing has been achieved to guarantee a good economic foundation, which ought to be the backrest of politics.
